Titanic at 25

Near, far, wherever you are…there is no escaping James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster: Titanic. It’s been 25 years since its release, and we’re still invested in Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet versus the iceberg. Ahead of its Valentine’s Day re-release in cinemas, we take a look at the continuing cultural ripples of the doomed love story: the Celine Dion song that almost didn’t happen, the on-set shenanigans, and the ongoing debate about that bloody door.

More highlights in this edition:

  • Parody king “Weird Al” Yankovic on the accordion salesman that changed his life, being called a “rock genius” by Kurt Cobain, and leaning into the weirdness in his Letter to My Younger Self.
  • Cricketer Adam Gilchrist, actor Pia Miranda and others pen love letters to their beloveds (and raise funds for Love Your Sister cancer research) this Valentine’s Day.
  • Long-time lovebirds Norma and Norman invite photographer Terry Graham into their suburban home to document 60-plus years of togetherness.
  • Singer-songwriter Kimbra on why her first album in five years is something of a personal reckoning.
  • PLUS: you’re still in luck, The Big Issue Calendar is still available your local vendor – just $20. Get in this fortnight, they’re about to sell out!
