The Big Issue is pleased to have the support from the Ecstra Foundation to help welcome back vendors to street selling.
Through Ecstra Foundation’s Response and Recovery grants, The Big Issue has been able to provide additional support and materials to vendors as they return to the streets.
Street vendors will have further access to contactless payments devices such as tap-and-go and Beem It, and magazine boxes to help bring The Big Issue magazine to customers in a COVID-safe way. This will allow vendors the ability to work and earn a meaningful income safely as we adapt to new COVID-19 standards.
The Big Issue postponed street selling in late-March due to COVID-19, and since Monday 29 June has returned to the streets. For 24 years The Big Issue has provided the ability for those experiencing homelessness, marginalisation and disadvantage to earn a meaningful income and connect with their community. In a new COVID-era we are pleased that we can continue to provide this support in a safe way.
We would like to thank Ecstra for their support in our return to the streets.
