David Byrne

This edition, we sit down with musician, dancer and self-described “anthropologist from Mars” David Byrne. Ahead of the Australian leg of his Who is the Sky? Tour, which kicks off this month, the Talking Heads frontman talks life, love and finding meaning in it all.

More highlights in this edition:

    • Wintringham provides safe housing for people over 50 who are facing homelessness: we paid a visit to residents, and met founder and Senior Australian of the year nominee Bryan Lipmann.
    • In Letter to My Younger Self, tennis legend Pat Rafter tells us about stealing tennis lessons from his brother – and later, a grand slam match against a young Roger Federer.
    • In Hamnet, William and Agnes Shakespeare grapple with the grief of losing their child. The film’s director Chloé Zhao and star Jessie Buckley talk loss, love and the “alchemical power” of storytelling.
    • Slip, slop, slap – it’s an Endless Summer for Jeremy Shaw. You can practically smell the salt water in this beachside Big Picture’s snaps.
    • Nat Thaipun reminds us that home is not found in one place or flavour, but in bringing them together. In Tastes Like Home, she blends savoury, spicy and crunchy to create Sai Oua Scotch Eggs. Read the full recipe here.
