The Big Issue is a leader in Australia’s social enterprise sector, providing employment opportunities people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage. In this workshop, students explore the role social enterprises such as The Big Issue can play in alleviating disadvantage and offering sustainable solutions to pressing social issues. Students are encouraged to think about their role as consumers and future tax payers, considering the economic impacts of their choices. As well as explaining the impacts of homelessness on the Australian economy, the session features the story of someone who has experienced homelessness and found employment at The Big Issue.
Please note that this workshop is specifically tailored for senior secondary school students studying economics, business and related subjects. All students and teachers who participate in a workshop will receive access to resources and study materials.
