Powderfinger: Full Band Interview

Back in 2010, one of Australia’s most beloved bands broke up – and in the process, totally broke our hearts. The lyrics to their hit ‘Sunsets’ said it all: each day, we’ve been looking for new ways to go on.

But over the past few days, mysterious symbols have been popping up all over the country. Letters and numbers against a Big Issue-red background, splashed across socials, billboards and even the Sydney Harbour Bridge… It’s all been leading up to this very special edition, announcing that – drumroll please…

Powderfinger are BACK!

The Big Issue breaks the news of the Brisbane band’s massive 2027 reunion tour, interviewing the guys about what they’re up to ‘These Days’ – from partnering with Mission Australia and using their platform to address homelessness, to the ties of brotherhood that have brought them back together.

“I’m terrified of the unity we have at the moment,” frontman Bernard Fanning tells us with a grin, in this unmissable exclusive edition.

More highlights in this edition:

  • Actor and voice for breast cancer awareness Samuel Johnson’s powerful Letter to My Younger Self
  • We speak to the legendary “grandmother of performance art” Marina Abramović
  • A powerful snapshot of life as a street paper vendor in 1990s New York, from writer Lee Stringer
  • Plus, George Georgievski’s Polneti Piperki, packed with Nonna-Style Lasagne. Read the full recipe here.
